Preface
The purpose of education is to create individuals that can address social ills effectively. Social ills exist in many forms. Discrimination by religion, race, sex, nationality, skin color or language are just examples of today’s social ills. The inability to realize that these social ills exist is itself even a more critical ill. These social ills tear apart human. Thus through proper education these ills should be cured. But then it is often said that prevention is better than cure. Thus early childhood education and primary education can play vital role in preventing these social ills.
Education can play vital roles in uniting muslims. Todays muslims have gone stray. They say one and do another. They don’t practice what they
preach.. Today we have so many idiotic interpretations of Islam. Often consciously or sub-consciously muslim groups interpret Islam in narrow ways. Such narrow interpretations only further divide the muslims. If the muslims cant unite themselves, how can they serve the humanity? If the muslims continue to remain poor and divided across the globe, how can they
have any dignity? Thus muslim students should be guided properly right from early childhood age.. It is time that these students should be taught to challenge the narrow understanding of their portents and grandparents. A generation must get better than the previous one through education and guidance. But it seems we are going the other way round. In the name ofIslam, we allow all evils to engulf us. If you continue to hate a fello human how can your prayers take you to the heaven? Can your fasting guarantee you a place in the heaven if you practice and/ or allow discrimination? Aren’t we too much focused in ensuring that we merely practice the rituals? Arent we blindly following the steps of our ancestors? Have we ever thought that there are
more serious matters we need to pay attention to rather than the rituals alone? Do we have the courage to assume responsibility for the cumulative fall of muslims across the globe? Do we have the courage to speak the truth; and seek and uphold justice?
Man should be given credits based solely on meritocracy. Such approaches would motivate students to work hard and smart. Competition among students in getting higher scores in exams can be healthy. Proper guidance can help
students score higher marks in exams. It doesn’t however mean that the teacher/ tutor should actually do each and every exercise for a student.
Neither parent nor a student should ever expect a tutor/ teacher to do his homework. The teacher’s role, in this particular case is to guide the student. How to guide? Well, it all depends. The teacher may begin by giving a few tips or hints on how to address a particular problem. However, the tutor, in the first place, must ask the student to give the problem a try. Only if the student fails to solve the problem, then only the teacher / tutor should give any hints.
